I don’t know if it was the baby bottles of wine that sucked me in, or the idea of getting bottles delivered to my doorstep without having to take off my comfy clothes (currently an old tattered pair of gray Juicy Couture sweats and my boyfriend’s Harborside t-shirt). But here we are. I saw Tasting Room first through another amazing girl Shannon @ Champagneatshannons and knew I had to try it for myself!
So I do have to warn you before signing up – there’s a lot of people on the waiting list, therefore it took almost 5 weeks for my first “tasting” box to arrive. But fear not! Once you get the sampler, and get the ball rolling on your taste profile, my first shipment of full size bottles came rapidly (like 3 days after quick). Get your Wine Tasting Kit FREE here.
The first order of your 6 sample bottles costs $9.95. Each bottle is about the size you’d expect of a real wine tasting, maybe equivalent to a shot and a half. You have the option to select what ratio red/white you prefer. I opted for the 4 red to 2 white ratio. You also get this cute little mat numbered to match the corresponding bottle for creating your tasting profile.
Chardonnays are NOT my white of choice, I tend to gravitate towards the other; Sauvignon Blanc if I were to have a white. I prefer white wines that are crisper, grassy, zesty and tart. (To be honest the only Chardonnay I could ever tolerate by choice one by Ramey and it was a lot more buttery than I typically would drink.)
By no surprise here, after doing my tastes and taking my quiz, I got my results;
“You showed the strongest preference toward the richest, boldest wine in your kit – excellent choice! This style of red – full in body and flavor alike – is among the most popular the world over. The bigger, more opulent and flavor-filled wine, the better.” It then continued to breaking down my notes, pairings and choices for future selections, as well as an idea of what my home orders would likely contain.

Which Grapes Should You Look For?
“Stick with varieties you know and expect to offer bold, up-front flavors, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Malbec. You’d probably enjoy California Zinfandels, too – among the most powerful, robust reds one can find.”
You best believe I felt like the dopest-fancy-bitch getting this massive box delivered to my door- and busting it open to find my bottles safely nestled in their little carriers. I felt so ADULT. Like, when’s my next dinner party? I received two Cabernets, a red blend, a Malbec, a Chenin Blanc and the Tavola Bianco (which I actually loved). I really like how I can go on the site and read the descriptors of my bottle, and learn more about why I like what I like, and what elements go into my taste preferences.
I found the prices reasonable as well, allowing me to sample some wines outside my typical choices and you get bottles of a higher price point for one rounded out cost. I chose the 6-bottles per month selection, coming in at a total of $79.99 with $9.99 shipping, so figure about 15$ a bottle which is how much I usually aim to spend anyway. You can also do 2 bottles for $29.99 + shipping, or 12 bottles for $149.99 +shipping (best value). And you can choose to receive every month, or even every 2 months.
